Which to go for, Epoxy flooring or tile for the right flooring solution?

Epoxy flooring

If your garage floor needs to be redone then you have to choose between Tile or Epoxy. Both have their pros and cons. Read on to find out which may be worth it.

Epoxy Flooring

Epoxy flooring is made entirely of resin. This helps the floor become resistant to several things which could otherwise damage it. These materials include chemicals, water items being dropped or just regular wear and tear.

Since epoxy is quite durable it makes perfect sense to go for it since it will last a long time. It has much better longevity than other floor coverings. If installed properly it will last for years without any wear or crack. Due to its durability epoxy flooring is very common in commercial and industrial use.

Epoxy flooring is perfect for commercial use since you don’t have to maintain it a lot. It has an aesthetic look and yet is durable. Just sweep or mop it from time to time and you are done. The epoxy coating is resistant to dust, dirt as well as liquid stains. Other types of flooring like tiles just cannot compete with epoxy in this regard. It has a huge weight withstanding capability. Where other floorings might crack and break if heavy items get dropped on them epoxy flooring won’t.

Tile Flooring

Tile flooring is available in a variety of styles such as stone or ceramic. Tile flooring when done with tiles can look very nice but it cannot withstand heavy items being dropped on it. Choosing it for your garage or commercial space is not a very good idea since a lot of heavy items are moved in such places.

Tiles however are a great choice for bathrooms and private rooms. Tile flooring also gets dirty quite quickly. You need to clean the channels or the grouting frequently to ensure the floor is clean. Flexible plastic tiles feel much better than ceramic or stone but with the price, it’s no wonder people are going for epoxy flooring.

Tile floors are also susceptible to staining and expanding in heat. Hence direct sunlight on your tile floor is a bad idea.

Which to go for?

If you are looking for a floor that will last the test of time better, then epoxy flooring is the way to go. It has become quite popular in recent years due to its benefits like durability and looks. Epoxy flooring is also cheaper than tiles since it can be done in one go.

Tiles need to be installed one after the other and can drain your pocket by getting the tiles shipped and installed. It is quite a bit more time consuming than epoxy flooring. Epoxy flooring can be done quite easily and in a moderately short amount of time. Epoxy flooring was frowned upon when people didn’t have a good idea about it. But now it is all the rage with commercial spaces and sometimes even households. This is why Sika epoxy is the most affordable option as well.
