I entered this Sea Pasta Bento I made into a contest and sadly did not win or come close. Not sure what they were looking for but OH WELL, at least I came out of my comfort space and tried, who knows one day maybe it will be a win next time. Just sad for kiddo, her biggest dream is to go to Japan (Tokyo) to shop and see the sights. I promise we will get there somehow someway baby!
For this bento I used Squash ravioli for fish and cut the edge into fin shapes, made the crab out of stuffed shell and used sesame seed for eye and green onion grown on my windowsill for the antenna. I used colored bow tie pasta for the flora and assorted veg like broccoli and cauliflower for coral beds. I used different beans yellow and green also from last years organic garden that me and kiddo tended. Lastly corn as sand on the sea bottom. There is also a little star fish carrot with sesame eyes peeking in the back.
This was the biggest production for a bento I have ever made and I loved it but it took me a long time and I am not sure if I will undertake such a big production again but maybe I will for kiddo on a special day, she deserves it….
Momma Says: Though this bento was not a winner in Bento & Co. contest I think it was a winner because my kiddo loved it so much and it used veg from the garden we grew together.
My bento friends and I made a hop where you can see all our creations that didn’t make the cut. So check out Rebecca at Bentos on the bayou and her creative bento!
