Snowman Bento

Well it has snowed here in Colorado again and the kiddos had a late start day. They were happy but it threw my morining a monkey wrench.

So with the fun snow on the ground I made my kiddo a snowman bento out of a BBQ pork bun he has nori eyes and mouth with tomato red cheeks and a carrot nose. His hat is made of salami and cheese along with his scarf. The flury of snow flakes are cut up baby corn on top of some black berries, grapes and I added some broccoli under his scarf.

I am sure my kiddo will love this as she was hoping to stay home all day and play in the snow. I guess she will make her snowman after school and just enjoy eating one for lunch.

Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.

  1. The snowman is so cute- I love his little expression. How in the world do you cut out those tiny details for the eyes and mouth? And, if you don’t mind me asking… what does Nori taste like? I’ve seen it but never eaten it.

      Thanks Julie,
I use paper punch type of cutter. You can purchase them online I got mine at allthingsforsale.com they even have them on jbox.com. Nori is that seaweed stuff that when you buy sushi it is wrapped in. Some definatly have a more pungent odor and flavor. I buy mine from the local market in the “asian” section. I did buy some “organic” brand from whole foods and my kiddo HATED it.. The smell was very strong and had a taste that was too much for her. So buy some different kinds and experiment so see what one you like best. I even have colored sheets I bought made from soy and different veg added to make colors. I got that at a authentic asian market by my house.
